YMCA OF SIMCOE/MUSKOKA
The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is taking part in Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. On Nov. 30, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is asking the community to make a pledge to provide opportunities by making a charitable donation or by spreading the organization's message through social media.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, donations made to the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka on Giving Tuesday will be matched dollar for dollar. That means your gift will have DOUBLE the impact.
"For nearly 170 years, we’ve been bringing people together - to learn and grow, to feel healthy and strong, to make new friends and to strengthen the communities around us. A charitable donation to the Y helps a child go to camp, connects families to YMCA programs and services, inspires people to lead healthier lives, and allows the Y to support our most vulnerable populations through its programs," says Jill Tettmann, CEO, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.
Over the past two years, the Y has continued to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our community by launching new programs, repurposing our facilities and collaborating with others to flatten the curve. Now more than ever, the Y remains committed to building healthy communities across Simcoe County, Muskoka and Parry Sound.
"When you give to the Y, you provide opportunities to transform, heal, belong, and so much more. The Y is more than a place. It’s an opportunity for people in our communities to reach their full potential," said Tettmann. "Thank you in advance to everyone who supports the Y's efforts to build a healthy community on Giving Tuesday – your donation is changing lives."
Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, Giving Tuesday is the opening day of the giving season. In its eighth year in Canada, Giving Tuesday continues to gain traction across the country, with thousands of partner organizations and millions of Canadians expected to take part, supporting the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
This year, donations to the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka on Giving Tuesday will support ongoing efforts throughout the organization, or can be designated to one of the following community initiative funds:
- 100 Reasons Y Capital Campaign for the new Barrie Y
- YMCA Camp Kitchikewana's Endowment Fund
