The Peak Performance U13 bantam boys' Lakers extended their win streak to eight games with a 5-0 record and gold medal in Division 4 at the Hamilton Blessed Sacrament Tournament March 1-3.

The team started their streak back on Family Day weekend with back-to-back victories over Centre Wellington 52-18 and 55-18 to capture a bronze medal in Division 3 at the Toronto Hoopdome tournament.

They then traveled  to Collingwood Thursday Feb. 28 and squeaked out a thrilling 35-33 last-minute win.

Entering the Hamilton tournament on a high, the team swept through the round robin with victories over Kirkland Lake, Niagara Red Raiders and Stoney Creek Storm by scores of 74-9, 36-29, and 56-37.

They started slow in the first half of their semi-final game with South Simcoe Sonics but rallied to win convincingly, 53-35.

The finals turned into a rematch with Niagara but stifling defence and solid spot up shooting allowed the boys to cruise to a commanding 38-17 gold medal win.

The weekend was highlighted by solid team play with eight or more team members scoring in every game.

The boys will compete at the provincials in Malton April 12-14.
