The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently hosted Muskats Splash Meet #3 at the YMCA. Approximately 80 swimmers from Orillia and Muskoka competed in the meet.

“The goal at any Muskats Splash meet is to introduce competition to swimmers who are new to the sport, and to provide the opportunity for other swimmers to try different events,” says head coach Meredith Thompson-Edwards. “For example, we had a few swimmers race the 800- or 1500-metre freestyle for the first time which went really well.”

Junior novice swimmers were in attendance at this meet and there were a few who raced for the first time in their career.

“I am really proud of our swimmers. There were some who were quite nervous but they got up on the blocks and raced anyway. They ended up having a lot of fun,” says coach Tatum Haslem.
