Roars could be heard far and wide as the Coldwater Wildcat Atom 2 minor hockey team arrived in our nation’s capital. The Wildcats competed over three days at the 2018 Ottawa East Atom B Minor Hockey March Break tournament, where they battled hard against the Ottawa East Tornadoes, the Nepean Falcons, and the Ottawa East teams.

The Wildcats’ offence, consisting of Graham Richardson, Brody Carpenter, Kailey Booth, Nathan Ross, Isaiah Marson, Jaxon Booth, Riley Whitley, Holden Jaensch, and Cole Thornton were able to dig, pass, deke and dangle while the Wildcats’ defensive excellence, consisting of Hope Anderson, Tosh Smith, Larissa Cooke, Jakub Coghlin and Gavin Van Niekerk managed to hold off their attackers and protect the defensive zone by poking, sweeping, and back-checking their way to victory. The talented Callum Newland blocked and saved his way to a shutout championship game win.

The Coldwater Wildcats Atom 2 team brought home gold after going undefeated at the three-day event. The team was led by the supportive, knowledgeable and talented coaching staff of head coach Neil Richardson, assistant coach Steve Cooke, and trainer Kevin Van Niekerk.

The Wildcats Atom 2 team is now headed into the second round in the Georgian Bay Triangle Local League Atom Pool A Championship. Wish them luck as they battle against the Elmvale Coyotes Atom 1 team. GO CATS GO!
