A pair of local Special Olympics athletes have qualified to compete at the Canadian Special Olympics championship in Prince Edward Island next month.

David Pratt and Evan Pittam won medals in five-pin bowling at the provincial championship to punch their tickets to the national competition.

To help raise money for their trip to the east coast, Special Olympics Orillia is partnering with Boston Pizza to help support the duo’s efforts. On Monday, April 30, Pittam and Pratt will be celebrity servers at the west Orillia eatery from 5 to 8 p.m. Ten per-cent of sales from that evening will go to the local organization to help fund the athletes’ trip to P.E.I.

Special Olympics is dedicated to promoting respect, acceptance, inclusion, and human dignity for people with intellectual disabilities through sports. For more information, visit specialolympicsontario.com.
