Orillia Channel Cats swimmer Flora Haslem, 14, recently competed in the Swim Ontario Open Water Championships.
Haslem completed a two kilometre swim in 29.10 placing third in her age group, and 15th out of 86 females who were entered.
Flora's mother and Channel Cats Coach Tatum Haslem was coaching her at the event.
"This was the toughest year for sure, close to 200 swimmers in total. Flora was in a pack of a bunch of girls and had to fight the last 500 metres to pull ahead. She had a great race, we are pleased with her first open water race," says Haslem.
