The Orillia Rowing Club received the Rowing Canada Community Sport for All Grant funded by Sport Canada.

Overall in sports, women/girls are underrepresented. With the funding received, the Orillia Rowing Club was able to purchase 12 rowing machines and a small trailer to transport them and then proceeded to introduce the sport of indoor rowing to all girls' physical education classes in the three Orillia high schools.

The program was an overwhelming success, with over 500 students enthusiastically taking part. These sessions were taught by the Orillia Rowing Club's coach, Anne Hodkin.

The Orillia Rowing Club hopes to do a similar type program again next year in the high schools.

This past winter, the rowing club has also been teaching indoor rowing twice per week at the Orillia Recreation Centre, which has proved popular.

The Orillia Rowing Club is busy preparing for another on-water rowing season. The website will be updated by the first week of April with 2023 programs. Check it out here.
