The Moonstone Mechanical Novice A Terriers are headed to the Ontario Minor Hockey Association championship against Woolwich.

The Terriers punched their ticket to the OMHA final after ousting the Innisfil Winterhawks in the semifinals. After a scoreless Game 1, the Terriers came out strong in Game 2, winning 5-2 on goals by Brock McKay (2), Josh May, Eric Shellswell, and Preston Tryon. Assists went to Hudson Inglis (2), Ronin Black, Shellswell and May.

In front of a hometown crowd for Game 3, the Terriers opened the scoring early in the second on a goal from Inglis, assisted by May. Inglis was not done and added another in the second from May and Jack North. With a minute left to go in the second, Tryon put a shot high and over the heads of the Innisfil defence and goalie to add to the Terrier lead. Shellswell built on the Terrier lead late in the third. After a 4-1 win, the Terriers were one point away from clinching the series and advancing to the OMHA finals.

Venturing to the opponent’s arena for Game 4 and a possible series-ending game, the Terriers found themselves behind early in the first. With grit and determination, the Terriers did not back down. Standing his ground in front of the net, Colten Sharland found the back of the net off of May’s shot; Inglis also earned an assist. The Winterhawks took the lead again in the second, however this did not faze the Terriers. Once again Inglis scored on a pass from May. The third period looked to be all Terriers as Inglis scored his second of the game and defenceman McKay put the Terriers up 4-2. With the time running out, Innisfil pulled their goalie, added one to the scoreboard, but the steady Terriers kept their composure. McKay scored an empty netter to solidify a 5-3 win and a trip to the OMHA finals.
