Day Two of the 73rd annual Orillia Blackball Classic got underway Saturday morning at all three local high-school gyms.
In an all-Orillia battle in junior division play, on the consolation side of the bracket, Orillia Secondary School fought off a Twin Lakes Secondary School surge in the second quarter and dominated the second half as the visiting Nighthawks ran away with a 62-37 victory over their cross-town rival. The game was a six-point game in the second quarter but a combination of Twin Lakes miscues and a resurgent OSS attack helped the visitors earn the lopsided triumph.
Action at Canada's longest, continuously-running high-school hoops tournament continues today and will culminate with the championship game for junior teams at 4:30 p.m., followed by the senior boys' title game. Both championship games will be played at OSS.
