Hawks soar to Clearview Madness tourney title

The Orillia Hawks Senior C ladies won their division crown at the recent Clearview Madness Tournament in the Valley.

In Game 1, the Orillia squad tied the Barrie Sharks 1-1. Orillia's goal was scored by Caitlin Kubiseski.

Orillia then blanked the Exeter Squirrels Sr. C team 2-0. Carly Payne and Kubiseski scored for the Hawks, while Jessi Cranney and Payne had single helpers and Kubiseski had two assists for the victors.

In Game 3 of the round robin versus the Clearview Ice Cats Sr. B team Orillia won a 6-5 thriller. Haylee Lawlor netted a hat trick to pace the victory, while Danielle Jeffreys added a pair and Payne added a single marker. Assists went to Kubiseski, Jillian Armstrong, Kayla LaCroix, Brittney Bince, Payne (2) and Jeffreys (2).

Timmins then blanked the Hawks 5-0.

In the championship game, the Hawks got back on track, skating to a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over the Clearview Ice Cats. Jillian Armstrong and Jeffreys scored in the narrow win, while Payne, Kubiseski and Laura Kennedy notched assists.
