Heat gets local Lady Kings teams fired up for action

Six-point effort from Harper MacDonell paces Northern Elite to house league triumph at West Orillia Sports Complex

Despite the heat there were lots of smiles when teams in the Orillia Lady Kings program competed at the West Orillia Sports Complex on Monday.

The heat was real on Monday night in Orillia while the Lady Kings house league players were fired up for their weekly game night.

In the U9 division St. Louis Bar & Grill battled to a 3-3 draw against BMO Nesbitt Burns. Norah Belviso netted a pair, while Baileigh Brain fired in a single for St. Louis Bar & Grill. Payton Viherjoki, Kayla Beard and Matilda Walker each scored for BMO Nesbitt Burns. 

Northern Elite Lacrosse hustled for a 7-3 win over Stoutt/Re/Max. Northern Elite was led by Harper MacDonell with six points (1 goal and 5 assists) and Isabelle Ouellette-Darling with six goals. Georgie Suddaby had 2 assists of her own. Re/Max goals were scored by Delilah Lafraugh, Addison Atkinson and Zoe Beaudin. 

In the U11 division Team Micks battled hard to a win over 2nd Century with a score of 9-4. Team Micks came out passing the ball well, with assists from Adeline MacDonnell, Lucy Edwards, Emma Morton, and Jenna Grelowski. Goal scorers were Langley Duffy-Wilkinson, with five, Mara McKinney, with two, and Avery Saunders and Isla Quinn with one each.  2nd Century Sports were led in scoring by Rebekah Lacroix with two, Brooklyn Reed worked hard for a goal, and made some great passes for three assists, and Isabella Weaver fought hard for a goal of her own.

Hillson Eyerillians didn't need any help seeing the net with a 7-5 win over BMO Nesbitt Burns. The Eyerillians worked hard with both Karis Davies and Kaia Sangster netting hat tricks, and Sadie Kuula with a single goal. Passing the ball very well were Payton Southorn with four assists and Ivy Lowery with one. BMO Nesbitt Burns hung in tight with a big goal by Rosa Belviso, and pairs by Brielle Hodgkinson-Armstrong and Chloe Crittenden. 

The U13/U15 players worked hard in the heat to entertain their fans. BMO Nesbitt Burns battled for the trash in front of the net with Mid Ontario Disposal to reach a 5-5 tie. Jadyn Maracle and Anna Fagan scored pairs, while Ryleigh McGuire tallied a goal.  Katie Bunting, Jessica Noganosh and Mya Roe worked hard for assists for Mid Ontario. Mira Cresanto and Billie Rouse scored two each for BMO, while Ashleigh Hester scored as well. A strong assist was also noted by Kaydence Thompson, while Emersyn McLaughlin played strong in net. 

Mariposa Landscaping left no stone unturned in their 11-5 win over Strachan and Morris Insurance. Mariposa goals were scored by Kady Shelswell, Ava Rouse, Willow Davidson and Makenna Maracle, who each netted two, while Ellie Lynch, Rayne Noganosh and Kaelyn McDonald scored singles. Assists were tallied by Morgan Parnell, Rylee-Lynn Daly, Alice Brain, Shelswell, Rouse, Maracle, McDonald, Noganosh and Lynch. Strachan and Morris put in a strong effort with two goals from Brooklyn Page, and singles by Ryley Black and Molly Bergeron.  Alison Rolston marked a big assist.
