The Orillia Lakers U12 major atom boys started off their season recently with three tough games in Markham.

The Lakers lost their first game, in a nail biter, against the Kitchener Vipers as they came up just short in a 33-29 contest.

The Lakers then rebounded to defeat the Peterborough Power 34-16.

The day ended with the toughest match of the day against the Woodbridge Lions. The Lakers found themselves down by over 20 points early, but were able to slowly claw back into the contest before, in the end, dropping a respectable 47-37 decision.

The team found themselves a great motivator in their new mascot, “Finn”, who was there to cheer on the squad through thick and thin.
