The U15 girls Oakville Vytis North team is travelling to Niagara, Ont., this weekend to attend the Ontario provincial championships.

The provincial championship is created based on the teams ranked in Division 1 during the final ranking and seeding process.

The provincial championship is hosted by the Pelham Panthers and is the biggest tournament to showcase the best eight teams from Ontario. This tournament will determine the ultimate champions of Ontario basketball for the U15 age category.

The Oakville Vytis team is currently ranked fourth heading into the weekend and will face Sudbury Jam (No. 1), Transway (No. 5), and Brantford CYO (No. 8). The girls are looking to kick off their weekend with a big win against Brantford CYO on Friday night (6 p.m.), who they have played several times this year in tournaments and league play.

This is a huge opportunity for the Oakville Vytis North team, which is comprised of players from Collingwood and Orillia, and the surrounding areas. This is also among one of the first times a girls’ U15 local team has made it to Division 1 for Ontario basketball.
