The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club has been busy in the pool this month.

Seventeen-year-old Blythe Wieclawek recently competed at the Mel Zajac Junior International Swim Meet held in British Columbia. She competed against some of the fastest junior swimmers from the U.S. as well as Canada.

Wieclawek advanced to finals in the 50-metre butterfly, 100-metre butterfly, 50-metre backstroke and 100-metre backstroke.

“It was a great experience for Blythe and we are pleased our club was well represented at this high-level competition,” says head coach Meredith Thompson-Edwards.

Up next was the Guelph Spring Splash Meet offered to swimmers in junior novice, senior novice and bronze training groups. Seventeen swimmers participated in the meet, which enabled them to gain more racing experience. Swimmers in attendance included Nadine Ackert, Maelle Bouchard, Boyd Brown, Georgia Cameron, Sylvia Chabot, Christopher Dorevich, Emma Edgerton, Ava Fairgrieve, Grace Hunter, Gabriella Marques, Arabella McFarland, Sam Pecorella, Riley Shore, Oscar Simons, Rory Simons, Rydaar Watt and Nicolas Willis.
