The Scotiabank Orillia Minor Midget Terriers took on the Richmond Hill Stars in the Ontario Minor Hockey Assocation quarter-finals.

In Game 1, Orillia came out of the gates flying, setting up four first-period goals, including a hat trick from Sam Trumble and a lone marker from Connor Flannery.  Assists on the first-period goals went to Whyatt Winkel, Jhett Winkel, Kaiden Robitaille and Brock Jeffels.

Richmond Hill changed goalies after the first and that seemed to ignite the Stars as they scored two of their own goals on Kamden McIvor in the second period on powerplays. The teams exchanged chances for most of the second period, with the majority of saves from the Stars goalie.

In the third period, Owenn Banks capitalized on the powerplay off a pass from Trumble to take a 5-2 lead. The Stars scored once more in the late part period, but Orillia won the game 5-3.

Orillia travelled to Richmond Hill next to battle the Stars. Orillia again came out quick, scoring with under four minutes into the game as Ty Snelleman fired one past the Star goalie to take an early lead. Assists went to Owen Palaro and Johan Teahen. A few minutes later Robitaille set up J. Winkel in front of the Stars' net to take a 2-0 lead. As the period neared the end, Banks scored on an assist from W. Winkel to give the visitors a commanding 3-0 lead.

The second period was scoreless by both teams but Richmond Hill scored early in the third on a powerplay. Orillia again got into penalty trouble with three minutes left in the period, the Stars pulled their goalie and were able to capitalize to make the game 3-2.  Colby Small was able to stop the rest of the Stars attack as the Terriers secured the 3-2 victory.

In the final game of the series, Orillia again dominated the first period on two goals from both Trumble and Jeffels giving the squad a 4-0 first period lead.  Assists on the first-period goals went to Trumble (2), Jeffels and Palaro.

Jeffels completed the hat trick early in the third period on a great solo effort. Richmond Hill did manage to slide one past McIvor in net, but Orillia won 5-1 and a seat in the OMHA semi-finals.

The Terriers battle Quinte West in the next round of the OMHA playoffs. Game 1 set for 8:10 p.m. Friday night at Rotary Place. Go Terriers Go!
