ORILLIA CHANNEL CATS

The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently attended the Barrie Trojan Cup Invitational. Thirty-three swimmers participated in the multi-day competition.
Swimmers in attendance ranged in age from 9-17 and represented senior novice, bronze, silver and gold training groups.
This meet offered finals for 13 and over swimmers for the top eight swimmers in each age group. The 12 and under swimmers raced timed finals in the afternoon sessions.
There were a few swimmers who added to their list of qualified events for Short Course Regionals being held in February at the Orillia Recreation Centre.
Swimmers with additional qualified events include: Kael Cresanto (100 butterfly), Nadine Ackert (50 backstroke), Jackson Denne (100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly), Anna Holton (100 breaststroke, 200 backstroke, 400 freestyle), Sam Pecorella (50 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 200 freestyle), and Adair Wieclawek (200 freestyle, 200 Individual Medley).
Blythe Wieclawek set a new club record in the 15 and over girls 200 individual medley (2:25.17).
