The Orillia Hawks Novice B team continue to demonstrate steady improvement throughout the season and it showed this weekend when they won their division of the prestigious Walter Gretzky tournament in Brantford.
The girls played a total of four games over the course of the weekend.
Falling one goal short of a win in their first game against Ancaster, the Hawks fell 1-0. But they went on to play Brantford, winning 6-0, and Guelph, who they defeated 7-2.
In the championship game against Ancaster, the Orillia Hawks put in a total team effort with every player giving their absolute best and they were able to avenge their earlier loss with a 2-1 victory and claim the championship title!
Under the guidance of great coaches and exemplary role models, Steve Fagan, Mikayla Rae, Brittney Bince and trainer, Martin Hill, the small but mighty team of 11 girls have not only developed their hockey skills and work ethic, they have also made memories and developed friendships that will last well beyond the hockey season.
Team members include Ava Rowe, Darcy O’Connor, Kaydence Thompson, Holly Vanderstelt, Alex Fagan, Ellie Lynch, Mia Ligers, Anna Fagan, Kira Barker, Beth Lewis and Jordyn Hill.
