Orillia Lady Kings field lacrosse season in full swing

Teams from various divisions take to the fields at West Orillia Sports Complex

In the U7 division players on both the BMO Nesbitt Burns green team along with the Kutting Edge pink team are working hard with their coaches to learn the great game of field lacrosse.

They played a high-paced game this week focusing on ground balls and their scooping skills. They are looking forward to hitting the field again next week.

Field lacrosse players in the U9 division battled hard on Monday. The Millwood Logistics team defeated the Stoutts RE/MAX team by a score of 4-2. Winning goals were scored by Maeve Runk and Isabelle Oulette-Darling and Harper MacDonell with two of her own. Fiona McKinney helped with an assist. The Stoutts RE/MAX team answered back with two goals by Olivia Hopkins, with assists by Elise Jermey and Haddie Buchner.

The Northern Elite purple team wouldn’t come second in a 5-2 win over 2nd Century Source for Sports. Two goals by Isla Aguilar Mitchell and singles by Caleigh Basta, Emma Jones and Kayla Beard took them to the win, with assists by Anna Hunter, Baileigh Brain and Brooke Griffin. 2nd Century responded with goals by Beya Beaudin and Isabella Beaudin and assists by Delilah Lafraugh and Talia Guerrera.

In U11 action, Champlain Ready Mix cemented their win over St. Louis Bar and Grill with a score of 9-2. Brielle Hodgkinson-Armstrong came out strong-arming the competition with six goals, while Chloe Crittenden scored two and Kaia Sangster added a single for Champlain Ready Mix. Avery Saunders and Isla Quinn each scored one for St. Louis Bar and Grill.

In another lopsided U11 game, Tryon Construction had the spark over Atmosphere Electric with a 14-1 win. Kylie Homan led the way with four goals, while Rebekah Lacroix and Leighton Mainer each tallied a hat trick and Abigail Catterall and Quinn Wilson scored two apiece. Lila Philips responded for Atmosphere Electric with a goal of her own.

The U13/U15 division saw some upsets with Mariposa Landscaping digging deep for a win against Mid Ontario Disposal with a score of 7-4. Ellie Lynch led the way for Mariposa with two goals, with single markers by Katie Bunting, Anna Fagan, Chloe Weiler and Billie Rouse. Mid Ontario goals were scored by Mya Roe with two, and Jana Ball and Jorja Davies with one each.

The game between Strachan and Morris and Atmosphere Electric had everyone on the edge of their seats, with a 7-6 win by Strachan and Morris. Winning goals were scored by Olive-Marie Bomberry with two, and Ryleigh McGuire, Eiley Hayes, Kiley Kennedy, Madeline MacCormack and Ava Wara with singles. Atmosphere Electric fought back with two goals each by Evynn Stanford, Morgan Parnell and Kaelyn McDonald.
