ORILLIA LAKERS

The Orillia Lakers U16 team completed its 2021-22 season this past weekend in Bowmanville.
After a season fraught with disruption due to a lockdown right before regular games began, and a significant leg injury during an exhibition game for player Lincoln Harper, the U16 Lakers ended on a high note.
Starting the Ontario Cup weekend with a 71-47 victory over North York Strickland, Luke Stevenson led the team in scoring with 20 points.
Game 2 was against SBA Team Lawton and the Lakers came out with a narrow 65-58 victory, with Hunter Coolbear leading the team with 18 points.
The third game of the round robin was against the Oxford Attack. It was a tense, back-and-forth game, with the Lakers coming up short, 40-51. Coolbear was once again the leading scorer with 15 points.
The loss sent the Lakers to the bronze-medal game against the Milton Stags on Sunday. It was another tight game with many lead changes. With a key three-pointer by Stevenson and some clutch free-throw shooting by Brycen Murray, the Lakers were able to secure the bronze medal with a score of 64-57.
The leading scorer was Stevenson with 22 points, and Murray got his first career triple-double — 10 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists.
The Lakers would like to thank head coach J.P. Wilson, assistant coach Brent Murray and team manager Jessica Stevenson for their time and hard work this season, as well as the parents for their support.
