A local basketball team, accustomed to wearing shorts and sneakers and chasing wins, decided to team up to make a difference for others.

This past weekend, members of the Legion Branch 34 Orillia Lakers major midget girls team got in the spirit of the season by getting together to pack 18 Christmas boxes for Operation Christmas Child. These shoeboxes, full of supplies and presents, will be delivered to children living in circumstances of war, poverty, and natural disaster around the world.

The girls would like to thank Orillia Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 for the donating a room they could use for the packing. They also appreciate the efforts of those involved in helping garner the extra donations of clothes, supplies etc.
