The Orillia Lakers U10 novice girls were a determined team going into the Steve Bazuk Memorial Tournament hosted by the Barrie Royals this past weekend.

They were up against some tough competition and pulled together, finishing with three wins and one loss, taking home the silver medal.

The team has a new motto thanks to their sponsor, Dan Parnell of Royal LePage — “Together Everyone Achieves More” or “TEAM” — and they certainly played that way this weekend.

“It’s been amazing to watch this group of girls grow and succeed as individuals and as a team,” said Mike Gammon, a second-year parent. “Each player brings their own talent and strength to the team. They’ve become friends and teammates that share the highs and lows of success and many laughs along the way.”

The girls will be playing with confidence as they head to Downsview Park for the Hoopdome Tournament on Feb. 28 before heading to the Ontario Cup March 7. Good luck, girls!
