Hailey Irwin, Olivia Neal and Daniel Patriquin, all from the Orillia Figure Skating Club, had qualified for the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships.

These three skaters have worked extremely hard over the course of the 2019-2020 season, to maintain a qualifying score to allow them to compete at the provincial level.

Unfortunately, with the COVID-19 virus shutting down facilities across Ontario the Provincial Championships to be held in Belleville had to be cancelled.

The Orillia Figure Skating Club would like to recognize the hard work and dedication these skaters have shown throughout the season.  All three train at a competitive level, along with volunteering their time to help assist young skaters in our club.

Hailey Irwin is 14 years old and competes at the Star 6 Freeskate level. She competed at five Skate Ontario events this season, winning a gold medal at the Stratford Super Series event.

Olivia Neal is 12 years old and competes at the Star 5 U13 level. She competed at three Skate Ontario events this season winning a silver medal at Skokie Skate in Huntsville and a gold medal at the Super Series in Keswick.

Olivia has worked extremely hard this season to improve her double jumps, landing both her double salchow and double toeloop cleanly. She shows great strength in her spinning and continues to improve her performance level. Olivia has passed her Gold skills, her Star 6 freeskate, her Star 8 dances, and her Star 5 artistic. She is coached by Tracey Zwiers.

Daniel Patriquin is 18 years old and finished the season in a tie for 1st place in the Star 8 Men’s Freeskate. Dan has shown great improvement in his freeskate this year, and has had great success landing his double axel. Dan passed his Gold Level Dance, Skills and Freeskate this season and will compete in the Gold Level Men’s Freeskate in the 2020-2021 Season. Dan trains at the Mariposa School of Skating under coach Janice Morgan.
