The Orillia Terriers won back-to-back road games Thursday and Friday night, extending their win streak to three as they continued their strong start to the Provincial Junior Hockey League season.

On Friday night, the Jr. C Terriers blanked Huntsville 3-0 at the Canada Summit Centre.

The Terriers scored a pair of first-period goals within 48 seconds to grab an early stranglehold against the Otters.

Keegan Foster tapped in a rebound for his first of the season to give the visitors the early lead while Luke Charlebois extended the advantage when he took a lead feed from Cameron Weeks, broke in all alone and beat Otters netminder Ty Sparling.

In the second, Nolan Rochette tipped in a point shot to help his team go up 3-0. That was enough for netminder Jason Cumbo, who stopped all 32 shots he faced to earn the shutout; Orillia outshot Huntsville 40-32 in what was a penalty-filled affair.

That victory followed an emotional overtime triumph Thursday night in Stayner.

Playing against the reigning league champs, Orillia built a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Corey Miller, Alex Henry and Jake Beard.

But the Siskins rallied to knot the contest and send the game into extra time. For the second straight game between these two teams, defenceman Ayden Dooley scored – this time on a power play, to give his team the hard-fought victory in enemy territory.

Before leaving Friday night’s game with a lower-body injury, Kyle Heitzner continued his strong play since joining his new team. The former Barrie Colt has a goal and three assists in three games playing on the top line alongside Beard and Miller.

With the wins, the Terriers improved to 9-4 and sit just two points back of the first-place Alliston Hornets in the Carruthers Division.

Orillia will hit the road again Thursday for a road game in Schomberg. They are finally back on home ice at Rotary Place Saturday, Nov. 3 when they will clash with Alliston in a 7:30 p.m. contest between the league’s top two teams.
