NEWS RELEASE
ORILLIA CURLING CLUB
*************************
Well, summer is officially over and so our thoughts naturally turn to the fall and winter fast approaching.
You may be looking for something fun to keep active and socialize. Why not try curling?
The Orillia Curling Club is excited to begin their year on the ice.
“We are looking forward to another great season to get underway,” says club president Don Kinzinger. “We have upgraded our cameras to provide a more engaging experience for viewers in the lounge, new brooms for our youth and pay-to-play sessions, and many other improvements.”
Membership registration is in high gear right now and is set to close on Sept. 30 (for team play leagues). The Orillia Curling Club offers leagues for all ages and skill levels and is a great way to socialize while getting some low-impact exercise.
Mr. Kinzinger boasts, “We have leagues for youths, and adults, as well as memberships to fit every schedule, and we heartily welcome newcomers. If you would like to try curling with some friends without the commitment, you can always register to play in one of our instructor-led, Sunday pay-to-play sessions beginning Oct. 27. So, don’t be shy if you’ve never curled before — try something new. As an added welcome, new members receive a 25 per cent discount on membership fees in their first year.”
The ice is starting to go in at Barnfield Point Recreation Centre (home of the Orillia Curling Club) and members will take to the ice to get the season officially underway on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Thanksgiving weekend will see several free intro to curling clinics for new members as well as opportunities for returning and/or rusty members to get their ice legs back.
