A standout goaltending performance and some timely goals helped the McLean and Dickey Orillia Terriers return to the winner’s circle last night.

Reed Spinola stopped all 38 shots he faced to backstop the Terriers to a 4-0 victory over the visiting Innisfil Spartans in front of about 165 fans at Brian Orser Arena.

It was a much-needed victory for the home side; the Terriers had lost five of six coming into the important Provincial Jr. C contest.

After a scoreless first frame, newcomer Matthew Campbell scored his first as a Terrier late in the second, and just over 90 seconds later, Jayden Murison tallied his fifth of the season to give Orillia a 2-0 lead.

In the third, the Terriers secured the victory with a late power-play goal from Colton Dumond followed by an insurance marker from Ty Snelleman.

Spinola was flawless in net to backstop the team to the shutout; Orillia outshot Innisfil 46-38.

With the much-needed victory, the Terriers improved to 11-9-0-1 on the season, good enough for fourth spot in the North Carruthers Division. They are just one point ahead of surging Huntsville and two ahead of the first-year Innisfil team.

Stayner remains the class of the league; the first-place Siskins sport an impressive 20-1 record and sit in first place. Second-place Alliston is 17-4-1, making the top two teams quite a bit superior to the rest of the league.

Orillia will hope to keep up their winning ways Saturday night when they clash with Midland (3-14-1-1) in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Brian Orser Arena.
