Twin Lakes wrestler pins down silver medal at OFSAA

Dominic Ritchie, a 'dedicated wrestler', shines at provincial high school meet, looking forward to Nationals

Twin Lakes Secondary School’s Dominic Ritchie found a silver lining at the recent Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association (OFSAA) wrestling championship.

The local athlete won a silver medal in the 47.5 kilogram boys’ weight class against the province’s top wrestlers.

Last year at OFSAA, Ritchie won a bronze medal.

Ritchie, a member of the Mariposa Wrestling Club, will be competing at Nationals later this year with some of his clubmates.

Twin Lakes coach Megan Hendry said Ritchie had to wrestle in five matches to earn the silver medal.

“He is a dedicated Mariposa wrestler, helps his Twin Lakes teammates with technique and coaches when needed,” said Hendry of Ritchie, who qualified for provincials by winning his weight class at the Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association tournament earlier this year.
