Get in touch with your creative writing side for a chance to win a cash prize by entering the Stephen Leacock Museum’s annual K. Valerie Connor Poetry Celebration.
Currently open to residents across Ontario, the K. Valerie Connor Poetry Celebration includes three submission categories which are: adult, student, and elementary.
“Writing is a wonderful and creative outlet and has been shown to have a very positive impact on mental health,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “With the pandemic in its second year, people are in need of creative and productive outlets to express themselves. We encourage as many people as possible to get involved and look forward to seeing the many submissions.”
Residents can submit up to three original poems and are directed to the Stephen Leacock Museum website at leacockmuseum.com to complete the submission form. There is an entry fee for adults of $10 for one submission or $25 for three. There is no entry fee for the student or elementary category.
“Now is the ideal time to write,” said Jenny Martynyshyn, Museum Coordinator of the Stephen Leacock Museum. “The K. Valerie Connor Poetry Contest is an excellent reason for writers to get inspired and have the chance to win a cash prize.”
The K. Valerie Connor Poetry Celebration has been held annually for the past six years and is made possible due to the generous support of the Connor family.
