Area man set to stand trial starting today in double killing of father, son

Nick and James Pasowisty died from multiple stab wounds on Feb. 8, 2017 at their Allandale apartment

A Barrie man accused of killing a father and son in the city's Allandale neighbourhood four years ago stands trial in Ontario Superior Court in Barrie starting today.

Dyrrin Daley was 24 years old in 2017 when he was charged with two counts of murder.

The bodies of the father and son 19-year-old Nick Pasowisty and 51-year-old James Pasowisty  were found inside their William Street apartment after police received two 911 calls from inside the second-floor duplex on Feb. 8, 2017.

Daley has been charged with first-degree murder in Nick's death and second-degree murder in James' death.

At the time, police said the two men died of multiple stab wounds.

Police also said the victims and the accused knew each other.

Daley was arrested at a home on nearby Marcus Street, located near Anne Street and Essa Road behind the former Barrie fairgrounds property.

Funerals for the father and son were held together on Family Day in Barrie.

The in-person trial is expected to last several weeks.
