Just after 11 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2020, Springwater Fire & Emergency Services received multiple calls regarding a reported barn fire on Flos Rd. 10 near Elmvale.

As firefighters approached the scene, heavy fire could be seen from a distance.

All Springwater tankers responded with 25 firefighters on site. A tanker shuttle was established and mutual aid was requested with Tiny Township providing two additional tanker trucks.

Firefighters established a defensive operation and worked to limit exposure to nearby outbuilding. No livestock was present and no injuries were reported, however, the barn has been deemed a total loss.

“Springwater firefighters did an excellent job of battling this fire despite the hot weather conditions. Their quick action prevented the fire from spreading to other outbuildings on the property,” says Jeff Kirk, Director of Fire & Emergency Services. “Thank you to our partners in Tiny Township for providing mutual aid assistance.”

The cause of the fire is undetermined, however, is not deemed suspicious. Crews remain on scene completing overhaul.
