Centre de santé communautaire Chigamik Community Health Centre (CSC Chigamik CHC) is now a registered charity and has joined the GivingTuesday movement in Canada – a global day of generosity happening on Dec. 1, 2020. Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season and continues to gain traction across the country.

Since 2013, GivingTuesday has united millions of Canadians to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. So far more than 7,500 Canadian charities, businesses and community groups have used GivingTuesday to rally generosity and help make the world a better place.

This GivingTuesday, CSC Chigamik CHC is asking members of the community to support its financial goal of raising $800 to provide 20 families living in North Simcoe with “ready to cook” meals for the holidays. Chigamik staff will assemble the food baskets and deliver them to local families.

“We are pleased to announce that we are now a registered charity and are taking part in this year’s GivingTuesday initiative. Our goal is to inspire everyone in our community to get involved and help us promote the spirit of giving back,” said David Jeffery, Executive Director, CSC Chigamik CHC.

“At a time when many of us are experiencing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, GivingTuesday is an opportunity for people across Canada to stand together in unity and to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected.”

The impact of GivingTuesday goes well beyond charitable donations, inspiring giving in all its forms. From coast to coast to coast, people are embracing this day as an opportunity to raise money for local charities and non-profits, run food and clothing drives, give blood, encourage kindness, help a neighbour and celebrate generosity.

On Dec. 1, and throughout the holiday season, CSC Chigamik CHC is encouraging donors to support giving back to their community. Donations can be made to CSC Chigamik CHC by visiting https://givingtuesday.ca/partners/centre-de-sante-communautaire-chigamik-community-health-centre.

CSC Chigamik CHC would like to thank its community partners – Foodland Midland, Graffiti Art and Mary and Ray Nason – for their generous donations. To learn more about Chigamik Community Health Centre, please visit www.chigamik.ca.
