Recently, the Penetanguishene Lions Club generously donated $500 to the Lorna Tomlinson Residence for Seniors operated by Wendat Community Programs. Since 2015, the Club has donated $2,500 to Wendat for construction and operating costs of the residence.

The Lorna Tomlinson Residence for Seniors, located in Penetang has been operating since February 2016. It is designed to accommodate 23 frail seniors of low income, with priority given to those over the age of 75.

Each resident has their own bedroom designed for mobility and comfort. There are two double rooms to accommodate couples, plus plenty of lounge spaces for socializing and structured activities. All meals are provided in a central dining room.

“We are very grateful to the Penetanguishene Lions Club for their generous support,” says Andrea Abbott-Kokosin, Executive Director of Wendat.  “There are many seniors in this area in need of affordable housing with the kind of supports we offer.”
