Tiny offers wide range of 'screen-free' summer activities for the whole family

Tiny Township is again offering several options for families to enjoy some quality time together.

Back by popular demand, the Fun in a Box series offers four new themed experiences. Boxes become available for curbside pick-up at Perkinsfield Park every Saturday starting July 10 and until quantities last. Cost is $40.00 plus HST.

There’s also the family game night edition that accommodates up to four participants and is intended for all ages.

Indulge in some “screen-free” family fun this summer with the Minute to Win it, our most popular box from 2020. Challenge your loved ones to test their coordination, problem solving, and puzzle beating  skills!

Included in this box are eight new Minute to Win It and family game night challenges. Appropriate for most ages, with adaptations provided to increase the level of difficulty for each challenge. All materials are included.

A youth section is good for those aged 12 to 17.

Let your hair down with this Fun in a Box containing six different activities, most suited for youth who enjoy crafting and creative DIY experiences. All specialty items and instructions are included, but some basic craft materials from home are required, such as non-toxic paint, crayons, markers, glue and scissors.

The box also contains information about youth programming in Tiny, including how to become a youth volunteer, or take part in the Youth Advisory Committee.

For children, including toddlers, there’s sensory play.

“One of our favourite aspects of recreation is its ability to engage all five senses,” the township noted.

Unplug from screen time with five unique sensory based activities and explore sound, sight, taste, smell and touch This  box has been curated with toddler and preschool aged children in mind. Adult assistance required and all materials are included.

The best of summer day camp accommodates one participant and is appropriate for children four and older.

At the cottage or at home, day camp fun is just a box away. Eight of our favourite day camp activities span a variety of genres including outdoor exploration, arts and crafts, sports and games and imaginative play.

All specialty items and instructions are included, however some basic craft materials  from home are required; non-toxic paint, crayons, markers, glue and scissors.

The township is again offering its sport loaner program and all the equipment needed to play in your backyard or at your favourite park. Each kit includes an instructional booklet with game play rules, examples of skill drills and links to online video tutorials posted on the Tiny Recreation YouTube channel. Sports available include soccer, pickleball, tennis, bocce ball, Frisbee golf and horseshoes.
