REGINA – A new report says Saskatchewan should take action to deal with the highest-rate of domestic violence in Canada.
The recommendations include allowing police to disclose people's past violent behaviour to their partners.
Justice Minister Don Morgan says the government accepts the report's findings.
Morgan says he hopes to have a bill passed that would allow such disclosure by the end of the year.
The review was prompted by several high profile cases, including the murder-suicide of a couple and three children in Tisdale.
The government also plans to spend nearly $20 million dollars over the next year to support community-based groups that provide support services and prevention programs.
The NDP Opposition says it is not enough.
Justice critic Nicole Sarauer says crisis shelters don't have adequate funding and have long waiting lists.
