ASHTON, Vernon Edward “Vern”

Passed peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Wednesday August 21, 2019 in his 85^th year.  Vernon, loving husband to Catherine, will be sadly missed by his children James (Crystal Dolliver) and Bruce, by his granddaughter Sierra, and by his sister Dianne (Bill) Stevenson.  Vernon is predeceased by his sister June (Bob) Hughes. Vernon taught highschool first in Hagersville and later in Orillia at both Park Street Collegiate and O.D.C.V.I..  He was a very active member of St. Paul’s United Church and was chair of the property committee and founder of the Godsend program.  He loved photography and participated in the Camera Club of Orillia.  The family will receive relatives and friends in the Parlour at St. Paul’s United Church, 62 Peter St. N., Orillia on Friday September 13, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held in the sanctuary of St. Paul’s United Church on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 2 o’clock.  If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Sharing Place Orillia or to St. Paul’s United Church and will be accepted by the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595.
