Oct 21, 1928 - July 25, 2022

We have lost a great man. Joe was a son, a father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was the son of Joseph and Anna, brother to John (Leona) and the late Frank (Marg).

He was a cherished father to Jo-Anne Heintzman (Jim), Marie Kane (John), John (Susan) and Mike (Debbie).

He was predeceased by his wife Alice and daughter Marie.

Poppa was the beloved grandfather of Jason Kane, Jennifer Stephen, James Heintzman, Angela Champagne, Andrew, Jordan, Amanda and Michael Ciesielski.

He was great-grandfather of Kayla, Tyler, Alexander, James, Ali, Madison, Brayden, and Liam.

He is also remembered by many family and friends.

Joe was born in Posnan Poland in 1928, and at two years old he came to Canada and lived in Kirkland Lake. At 17 he moved to New Liskeard where he met the love of his life Alice Watters. They had four children and moved to Orillia in 1966. He worked at Dorr-Oliver-Long which later became GL&V.

Joe played violin with the Champlain Seniors and was a band member of the Music Makers and Muskoka Court Band. He was also a guest member of the “Rowdy & Junk Yard Dogs” and proud to play with the Gospel Group in Rugby.

He was a member of Guardian Angels for fifty-six years and volunteered at the school for the reading program. The children loved him and called him, “Mr. C”.
In March, our Dad moved to Spencer House. He was still able to play his violin for the other residents. The care he received was the best. The staff were amazing. We would especially like to thank Marsha, Amalia, Georgia and countless others for their kindness to our father.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Guardian Angels, 115 West St. N, Orillia on Wednesday morning, July 27th, 2022 at 10 AM. Reception will follow at Mundell Funeral Home.
If you wish, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
