It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of June Cobean, 81, of Oro-Medonte, at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, on February 1st, 2023, after a short but courageous fight with cancer. Born in Toronto on July 13th, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Velma (Gillespie) and Mel Thompson.

June leaves behind her spouse, George Bell, a sister, Sharon Walters; her children - Allan, Stephen (Janice), Brad (Karen) Cobean, and Deanne Haywood (David); five grandchildren - Samantha, Matthew (Megan), Jeffrey Haywood (Shae), Katrina, and Brooklyn Haywood (Tyler); one great-grandchild, Daxton Cobean; sister-in-law, Helen Newlove; daughter-in-law, Nicole Cobean; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Ricky Thompson; first husband, Andy Cobean (Carol); sister, Carol Muise; brother, William (Bill) Newlove; and granddaughter, Erin Cobean.

June had a variety of different jobs and business ventures over the years. She owned and operated a muffin shop 'Golden Girls' in Bracebridge with her Aunt Gloria & Aunt June; a cleaning business for many homes and cottages in the Muskoka area and co-owned and operated 'June's Koffee Korners', a diner/restaurant, also in Bracebridge.

She loved family dinners on Sundays, and always had a pot of Tetley tea on the stove, ready to share with friends and visitors.

At June's request there will be no Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023, between 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Located at Big Cedar Estates Clubhouse, 1810, Line 13N, in Oro-Medonte.
