COOPER, Russell Oliver

Passed suddenly at home in Ramona on January 15, 2018 in his 92nd year.  Russell, loving husband of 68 years to Olive, will be sadly missed by his children Brian (Coleen), Lynn (Ken Lloyd), Terry (Silvia), and Bonnie (Frank) Baye.  Russell will be forever remembered by his grandchildren Glenn, Kelly, Jeff, Jennifer, Melissa, Lindsey, and Tyler, and by his great grandchildren Tyson, Damien, Alexa, Molly, and Ryerson.  Russell is survived by his brother Leslie (Eileen) Cooper and sister in law Helen, and will be lovingly remembered by his nephew Wayne (Carroll) and by all his nieces and nephews.  Russell is predeceased by his brothers Edgar and Kenneth and by his sister Audrey.  Russell was very active in farming in Washago, but he was also committed to a variety of community organizations.  Russell spent 10 years on Rama Township School Board, 21 years on municipal council and he was warden of Simcoe County in 1982. Russell was the past chairman of Simcoe County Health Board, and he spent 7 years serving on the Simcoe County Children’s Aid Committee.  He volunteered for many years with the Ramona Hall Fair Board and the Washago Heritage United Church Board.    The family will receive relatives and friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Thursday January 18, 2018 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m..  Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Friday January 19, 2018 at 2 p.m..  If desired memorial donations may be made to Heritage United Church and will be appreciated by the family.
