It is with great sadness that the family of David Cottrell announces his sudden passing on March 31st, 2021 at the age of 67. Devoted  husband to Jerilyn Cottrell (nee Frank). Loving father and step father to Abbey Cottrell, Ben Cottrell (Kiersten Andrew), Cara Smetana (David), Breanne Lessard (Jennifer Kortko), Nicholas Lessard and very proud Granpa of his six grandboys, Ryan, Evan, Cameron, Nolan, Zachary and Kinley. Predeceased  by his parents  Ben and Bernadette Cottrell. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Mark Cottrell (Susie), John Cottrell (Cheryl) and also his in-laws, Randy Frank, Greg Frank (Simone), and Susan Frank (late Dan Frank). Sadly missed  by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dave will be remembered for the immense love he had for his family and friends.  He was also an avid golf watcher, loved to travel and read, and as we know, was famous for his homemade Caesars and Eggnog. He also loved being on the water be it ocean or lake.

A celebration of  Dave’s life will take place at a time when all of us can once again gather safely. In the meantime, we are permitted to have visitation and it will take place at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595 on Monday April 5th, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Due to current world events, (Covid-19 restrictions) attendance is limited to a specific number of persons within the facility at any one time. Please call the funeral home to reserve a time slot for your visitation with the family within regular business hours. You are instructed to arrive just a few minutes prior to your desired time. Staff will advise when space permits within the funeral home. The visitation time is allocated to 10 minutes. Please be aware that others will have scheduled their time with the family. Masks are mandatory inside the funeral home and social distancing is practiced. Gathering outside of the facility is not permitted. We thank you for respecting the regulations we are required to enforce from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and Public Health. You may learn more by reviewing the Provincial Directives at www.thebao.ca.

If desired, donations in David’s memory may be made to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation and are greatly appreciated.
