William "Bill" "Pops"

Bill passed away peacefully, at Spencer House, on Friday, September 23, 2022 in his 85th year. Bill, beloved husband and devoted companion of Barb (nee Williams) for 60 years. Their Pops will be remembered with much love by Daughter Christine English-Chaloner (Paul), and Son Jeff English (Paula); cherished by granddaughters Brianne, Candace Chaloner and Brooke English. Bill is predeceased by his sister Catherine Mountenay and brother Bob and his wife Barb English. Bill is survived by his brothers-in-law Al Mountenay and Vic Williams (Esther); nephews Scott and Kevin Mountenay, Dennis Williams and niece Michelle English. Bill will be missed by his extended family Kevin, Aaron and Ryan Sneddon; Mary, Chris & Kelly Chaloner; cousins Stewart and Derrick Winstanley and all their families in England.


Bill was born in Orillia, son of Edward and Mabel English, but when young moved away with his family and grew up in Trenton, Ont.. He joined the Royal Bank in 1958, was a manager by 1970 and during his career lived in many places, but Orillia was always a summer vacation spot. In 1979 he felt fortunate to be transferred back "home" and in 1994 was very happy to retire in Orillia. Over the years a member of Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions Club, Legion, Curling, Couchiching Golf Club, and served as treasurer of Orillia Chamber of Commerce. Bill loved to spend time with his family and friends; swim and fish at Bass Lake; camp and snowmobile; curl, play baseball, basketball, pool;; games, cards and poker; winter in Florida and he loved to dance. Golf was his passion and he spent many hours at "Cooch" where he accomplished ~ 3 Holes-in-One ~! His fun loving spirit and humour will truly be missed ~ so many good times and treasured memories.


As per Bill's wishes cremation has taken place. No Visitation or services will be held. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the Charity of Ones Choice would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.mundedllfuneralhome.com.
