Our hearts are broken at the loss of our best guy, Rob Ferguson (48) of Oro-Medonte, after a powerful and valiant battle with brain cancer. Rob was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, farmer and humble jack of all trades who would do anything to help a stranger, neighbour or friend. He served his community as a firefighter for 26 years, first with the Township of Severn and then the City of Orillia fire departments and is a former Severn Township Councillor and volunteer Trainer with Coldwater Minor Hockey. Rob loved nothing more than his wife, children, farm and the bush, except for maybe a good practical joke. He is survived by his wife of 21 years and high school sweetheart Lisa; his children Macguire, Canyon, Calder and Cabot and his service dog Hardy; his mom Verna (dad Dave predeceased); his brother Dan and Sister-in-Law Melissa and their 4 children; Parents-in-Law Don and Rene Jacobson; Sister-in-Law Crystal Jacobson and fiancé Gerry Pilon. Rob made friends with everyone he met, had a helpers heart, was willing to tackle any project and built the biggest and best bonfires for friends and family to gather around. Rob will be missed terribly, as he leaves a huge hole in our family and our community.
Friends and family will be received at the Mundell Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  A Line of Duty Funeral Service to Honour Rob's Life will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 12 noon at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 265 Coldwater Rd. W., Orillia. Followed by Rob's Going Away Party at the Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club, 1151 Hurlwood Lane, Severn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ivegotyourback911.com to support organizations devoted to first responder mental health.  Messages of condolence are welcomed at mundellfuneralhome.com
