It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Doug on October 17, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family, in his 83rd year, after a valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Doug, of Coldwater and formerly of Barrie, ever the gentleman, longtime employee of L & E Paper and F.K. Machinery. Son of the late Lindsay & Pearl Haverson.  Soulmate, Best Friend and loving Husband of Gail (Mason) for over 41 years.

Much loved and devoted Dad of Carrie McGinnis (Dale Morrison) and Greg (Linda).

Proud Grandpa of Michael (Joanna), Stephen (Tracie). Predeceased by grandson Jordan Morrison. Loving great grandpa of Cayden, Breenah, and Aisling. Doug will be sadly missed by sisters-in-law Lorraine Stapleton (Tom) predeceased and Shirley Gibson-Applegate (Glenn). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Brother of Norm (Rena) and Sister Doreen Reid (Larry) both predeceased.Doug is also being sorely missed by his loving border collie Jessie. The family would like to thank all of our friends and neighbours for your unconditional support. To NP Joanne and Tammy and all of the Bayshore nurses for their exemplary care during the last few months. To the paramedics for your care and compassion. Your kindness did not go unnoticed. To Dr. Campbell and Dr. Bauman for making Doug’s last months more comfortable. To the nurses and Dr.’s of OSMH for your help through these difficult times. In keeping with Doug’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service. Friends and family will be received at Simcoe Funeral Home on Saturday October 30th from 1-3 p.m.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society – Pancreatic Research or to a charity of your choice through Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E.
