Passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Spencer House in Orillia, at the age of 90 years. Cherished husband of 55 years to the late Helen Hockin. Al will be sadly missed by his children Patricia (Murray) Whitney, Tim Hockin and Jill (Barry) Wilde and his grandchildren Mitchell and Carly Wilde. Al was a dear brother of Eleanor Ritchie (predeceased), Lois Ritchie and Donna Bonney. Al loved his daily walks, gardening, golfing, having weekly breakfast with his buddies and going to the "Club" on Tuesdays. He was an active member in the Kiwanis and Champlain Seniors Service clubs and a dedicated volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation for many years. A special thank you is extended to the exceptional staff at Spencer House Birch Lane for their ongoing care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. The family invites Al’s friends and family to celebrate his life at a casual reception on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 2 - 5 p.m. at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia. In memory of Al, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated.
