Hazel Marjorie Knight passed away peacefully, at Spencer House nursing home in the early hours of June 18 2022, in her 83rd year.
Loving daughter of the late Irene and Harry Phillips.
Wife of the late Fred Knight.
Survived by her sister Gladys Campbell. Predeceased by her twin sister Helen Stanton (John Stanton).
Remembered by her children, Rick Knight (Margaret), Tracy McLeish (Shane), Jim Knight, Harry Knight.
Remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gordon, Fredrick, Joseph (Trenden, Trace, Teddy (predeceased), Lily-Anna), Melissa & Brian (Malcolm), Ashley & Cody, Christine & Mathew, Jesse, William, Summer, Cody & wife Samantha (Colton, Liam, Jake) Matthew & wife Callie (Wrenlie), Brandyn & Adam, Hunter.
Hazel grew up on Bramshott farm with her two sisters and parents. She was always busy helping with the farm work. She loved being around all the farm animals and causing trouble with her sisters.
During her adulthood, she met and married Fred, together they had four children. She kept busy running their business, Fred Knight Cranes, and volunteered with her children’s activities. Especially boy scouts.
Hazel later went to school for nursing. She then got a job at IOOF retirement home in Barrie as A PSW for 20+ years. She took pride in her job and caring for the residents.
After Hazel retired, she got to enjoy her passion of playing in the garden and being around her dogs, but she was happiest spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking them on road trips, especially to Santa’s village or Wasaga Beach, and any opportunity to enjoy their company.
As Hazel’s grandchildren got older and began having children of their, she proudly became a great grandmother. She never missed the opportunity to brag about her family to anyone she met.
Hazel was the most generous, compassionate and loving mother and grandmother we could ask for. She will be extremely missed by us all.
There will be no funeral service as per her wishes. Cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to the SPCA or Heart and Stroke foundation.   Arrangements entrusted to the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia.
