1927- 2021
On September 22, 2021, at 94 years of age, Lois finally found peace after a long and determined battle with dementia and has now joined her beloved husband Al, who predeceased her in 2015 after 68 years of marriage. They were kind and loving parents who devoted themselves to their family and were always available when called upon.
Lois will be sincerely missed by her daughters, Jill(Casey) Van Kessel and Judy(Bill) Jackson, her grandchildren, Perry and Karla Van Kessel and Krista and Matthew (Alyson) Jackson, and her great-grandchildren Carter, Christopher and Cayden Van Kessel, Avery & Aryn Frederick and Alexander Jackson.
She and Al were charter members of Westmount United Church in Orillia, where they actively supported the congregation until prevented by failing health. She was also an avid craftsperson and created countless memorable sweaters, quilts, afghans, etc. which were generously passed on to the family.
For the last 10 ½ years she resided at Mill Creek Care Centre in Barrie, where she received loving care and attention during her prolonged and difficult battle with advancing dementia. Our family cannot express how grateful we are for knowing that she was always safe and comfortable.
Because of Covid restrictions, there will only be a small private family funeral held on Saturday, September 25 followed by interment at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Orillia. The family hopes to have A Celebration of Life at some time in the future when all family will be able to come together and larger gatherings will be possible. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
