John Morris

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, John Morris, eleven days shy of his 93rd birthday, on April 3, 2021.  Dad was the beloved husband of the late Ruth (Woods) and were married sixty-six years.  Loving father of Debbie (Steve) Ovell, David (Susan) Morris, John Jr. (Brenda) Morris and Jill (Joe) DeMars.  Loving Grandad/Grandpa to Michael (Neroli) Ovell, Scott (Amanda) Ovell, Tyler (Kara Lenehan) Morris, Zachary (Marlee) Morris, Joshua Morris, Jonathan (Shawna) Morris, Jaymee (Josh) Williams, Jessica DeMars, Jaclyn DeMars and Jordan (Sydnie) DeMars.  Dad was a proud Great Grandad to Zoe and Ainsley Ovell, Bella and Jaxon DeMars, Lincoln and Oliver Williams and Leo Morris.  John is survived by his two sister-in-laws,  Lois Gammon and Darlene Woods.  Dad was born in Rathburn, Ontario, and he never forgot this fact!  Predeceased by his parents, John and Julia Morris and his brothers, Bob, Owen and Bill.

John was a proud long term employee of Bell Canada and spent countless hours at the Community Centre Arena with his two sons.  As a result of his hard work and care,  he was awarded  life memberships from both the Orillia Minor Hockey and  the Orillia Minor Lacrosse Associations.  Dad’s favourite pastimes were fishing and hunting with his family and enjoying summer holidays at Portage Bay.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dad’s doctor, Victoria Archer, for her kind and  compassionate care.

The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595 from 6-9 P.M. on Wednesday April 7, 2021.
