NEWMAN: Thomas “Dean”

Posted

T. Newman

Passed away suddenly at the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Orillia on Thursday February 11, 2021 in his 65th year of Orillia and formerly of Coldwater.  Loved father of Joel Newman (Lori), Hayley Carrick (Mike), and Jennifer Ferge (Chad).  Loving grandfather of Rowen and Colton.  Dear son of the late Ord & Ruth Newman, brother of Paul (late Barb), late Ruth Carol Lynn, Trudy Treanor (Wayne), late Gord (Roberta), Joy Downard (Bob), Bill (Lesley), and Debbie Rhodes (late Dave).  Will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and caregivers.

Dean was a kind and gentle man who wore his heart on his sleeve. He was full of wisdom with a charming personality who always showed consideration for others. His sense of humour and smile were welcoming. Family always came first to Dean and was evident through his impeccable memory. At a young age he took great interest in learning his family history, listened intently to his elder’s, and passed on their stories to his family. Dean was the retired owner of T D Newman Trucking, where he was admired by his son Joel and many others for his knowledge, driving skills, mechanical ability, and the ability to think outside the box, which were put to the test daily.  He was always willing to listen and pass on his knowledge and experiences to others. Dean enjoyed the simple things in life, the things that didn’t cost money meant the most, he had a love for animals, gardening, and being on the water. He enjoyed everything old and knowing its history.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Nadia at Hillcrest Lodge for her compassion and friendship and his medical team at Soldiers Memorial Hospital.

Dean has requested to be cremated and that there will be no visitation or service.  As an expression of sympathy donations in memory of Dean may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or to Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital and may be made through the COLDWATER FUNERAL HOME, Coldwater (705-686-3344).

“We love and will miss you every day, forever in our hearts.”
