Peacefully at the age of 69 on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.  Paul Palmer, best friend and beloved husband of 44 years to Kate. Cherished brother of Owen of Innisfil, Ontario and Joan (Ovide) of Shediac, New Brunswick.  Much loved brother-in-law of Frank (Jackie), Jim (Nora), Bill and Kevin Hignell and Maureen (Miles) Brook all of Brantford, Ontario and Aileen (Mel) Molloy of Ailsa Craig, Ontario. Paul will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many, many friends.  Paul worked for Canada Post in Toronto and then Orillia. He was a member of Branch 34 of the Royal Canadian Legion and volunteered for many years including 25 years in “the red suit”.  He was awarded a legion life membership in 2010.  Paul will be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit.  Although never officially a Big Brother he played an important role in Kate’s Big Sister matches.  The family wishes to thank Doctors Ho and Crewe for their care over the years and especially during the past two months. Special thanks to the staff at OSMH on Soldiers’ One, ICU and IMRS - you are all amazing.  At Paul’s request there will be no funeral service but a Celebration of his wonderful life will be held in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34 Tri-Service Room on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1 p.m.  If desired memorial donations to the Branch 34 Poppy Fund or Big Brother Big Sisters of Orillia would be gratefully appreciated.
