It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Rodgers, who went peacefully surrounded by family. Our beloved music man now has a new gig in heaven! Predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Mary Jane Rodgers (nee Young), loving brother to Kim Boswell (Stephen), Jennifer Sutton (Steve) and Andy Rodgers (Laurie). Cherished uncle to Michael (Trish), Sara, Ali and Chris. Great uncle to Evan Boswell.
David resided at the Huronia Regional Centre in Orillia for many years and then moved to Barrie with the support of Simcoe Community Services. David faced constant physical and developmental challenges through the years, but his love of life was a constant reminder to us all that even the simplest of events can be special. David has been very active in the community and was always on the move. From Day Programs, bowling, karaoke, Blue Jays games, train rides, African Lion Safari and Hummer rides, David didn’t want to miss anything! He was a member of the Collier United Church congregation and always sang loud and proud!
A very special thank you to Linda, Kelly, Shirley and all the wonderful staff and caregivers who took such good care of David and shared in his joy.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 5-7pm at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home- 30 Worsley St., Barrie, On. (705)-721-9921. A Celebration of Life will be held at Collier United Church- 112 Collier St., Barrie, On. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11am.
