Rosebush; John Lisle, C.A. (July 17, 1937) died peacefully in his sleep January 9, 2022. He leaves his wife Joan Anne Rosebush (neé Hartwig) and daughter Catherine Joan Bernatavicius her husband Romualdas (Bernie) and their sons Adam and Eric; and his son David John, his wife Susanna and their sons Lincoln and Aiden. He also leaves a sister Jane Joynt (Donald) and nieces Maryanne, Elizabeth, and Melissa and nephew Geoff and their families. He also was a special brother-in-law to Patricia and Wolfhardt Neubert. Throughout his life John loved to be surrounded by people and engaged in many activities. He grew up in Leaside where he forged many lifelong friends through hockey, football and poker. Once married John and Joan bought a house in Toronto (Victoria Village) where they raised their family. John was involved in the local squash club and East Side Players amateur theatre group where he performed in many productions. He also participated in Toastmasters for which he won an award for best humorous speech. He collected new friends with every activity. He loved a party and John and Joan hosted several epic Halloween parties that became a tradition for years. John was also a keen bridge and cribbage player who rarely lost. Moving to Orillia in 1996 was a new challenge but John and Joan got involved in the community trying new things like curling and whisky tasting. In his retirement he was an avid volunteer on several boards - OSMH Foundation, Mariposa Folk Festival, Project Umbrella Burma, Sharing Place Food Bank, Lions Foundation and the Legal Aid Board. Golf was his passion which he played avidly until no longer able. Although trained as a Chartered Accountant he found his calling as an independent financial planner and tax consultant where he had long term relationships with clients, many of whom became friends. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the attentive, professional, and loving care provided by Peggy Wainman when Alzheimer’s robbed John of his golden years. There will be no funeral due to COVID but an interment will be held in the spring at St. George Fairvalley Cemetery in Oro-Medonte. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated and may be made through the Mundell Funeral Home.
