SHUTE

DUE to the ever evolving Covid 19 restrictions Kevin’s service will be postpone until a later time when family and friends can gather safely.

It is with deep sadness that the family of Kevin Shute announces that Kevin passed away at home, with loving family members by his side, on Tuesday, April 6th, 2021, in his 62nd year. An athletic, determined and courageous man, Kevin worked diligently with his team of doctors throughout his year-long illness. Kevin was committed to living life to its fullest and never stopped doing everything he could to stay strong and healthy for as long as possible.

Kevin is profoundly missed by his devoted wife Wendy Grace and his loving stepdaughters Becki Chamberlin (Clay), Lauren Smith (Mike) and Victoria Smith (Evan). Wonderful memories of ‘Grandpa Kevin’ shall live on in the hearts of Ryder and Nora Chamberlin. Kevin was deeply respected by Wendy’s entire family, where he quickly became an important, much loved member.

Kevin is the beloved son of Virginia (nee Thompson) and Wallace Shute (predeceased). Kevin’s memory is treasured forever by his devoted brother and best friend Corey Shute (Carol) of Barrie, his loving sister Debbie Fawcett (Jim) of Barrie, his brother Colin Shute (predeceased) and his loving brother Keith Shute (Brenda) of Alberta. Uncle Kevin is lovingly remembered by his niece Amanda and his nephews Bailey, Brandon, Tyler, Jason, and Brian.

….Kevin’s ‘Happy Birthday’ messages shall be missed by so many.

For almost 40 years, Kevin was a loyal, dependable employee at the Inscape manufacturing plant in Holland Landing. He was respected by coworkers and managers alike for his diligence and his never-failing commitment to top-quality workmanship.

Everyone who knows Kevin knows he was an avid, competitive baseball player – starting as a youngster playing T-ball and playing with Rec, D, Mixed and Old Timers baseball teams as time went by. Kevin could play any position and could run like the wind. Kevin

and his brothers loved playing flag football. Known as ‘the Shuters’- when Kevin, Corey, Colin and Keith were on the field, the other team knew they were facing a formidable line. So much fun has been had over the years, gathering to watch football and Toronto Blue Jays baseball games. The Dallas Cowboys have no more loyal fans than the Shute boys. One of their greatest joys in life is to watch the Cowboys trounce an opposing team (especially a certain QB who shall remain unnamed).

Kevin’s genuine, warm personality, his honesty, his commitment to his values, his easygoing manner and great sense of humour have touched many, many lives. Kevin never shied away from overcoming challenges that stood in the way of living his best life – and he triumphantly succeeded. Kevin Shute’s life was well-lived. You could count on Kevin when you needed a helping hand or caring, listening ear. During his life, Kevin grew and prospered in all the ways that matter most. The wisdom Kevin learned and has shared during his life journey will continue to positively impact the lives of others. The world is a better place because Kevin Shute was here. There is no higher goal to meet than this.

The family wishes to say a heartfelt thank you to Kevin’s RVH Cancer Centre team, Dr. Ng, Dr. Fejes, Dr. Ogundimu and Natalie; to the doctors, nurses and technicians who serve in the RVH Palliative Care Unit; and to Clare from the Orillia Diabetes Clinic. Your epic efforts to keep Kevin feeling well as possible were deeply appreciated and we thank you.

A very special thank you to our ‘angels of mercy’ – the Nurses from Bayshore and the Personal Support Workers from Happy At Home. Your compassion, professionalism and gentle hands-on care of Kevin is deeply appreciated. You were an immeasurable help to Wendy, Corey and Carol during Kevin’s last week. When we most needed you, you were there. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The family plans to have a larger celebration of Kevin’s life at a later date, when the Covid-19 dangers have passed.
